The inaugural International Pravasi Uttarakhandi Sammelan 2025, held on January 12 in Dehradun, witnessed a momentous occasion as Dev Raturi, founder and CEO of Amber Palace, a prominent Indian restaurant chain in China, was honoured by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The event, hosted at the Hyatt Centric Hotel, brought together successful non-resident Uttarakhandis (NRUs) from across the globe to discuss the state’s development and encourage village adoption initiatives.
Dev Raturi, a native of Kemriasaur in Tehri Garhwal, was recognized for his exceptional contributions to Uttarakhand’s development by adopting two villages—Kemriasaur and neighbour village Sunargaon. These beautiful villages are along the sacred route to the Char Dham pilgrimage and located just 60 kilometers from the serene Tehri Lake and approximately 145 kilometers from the spiritual hub of Rishikesh and the capital city of Dehradun.

As the first individual to adopt not one but two villages, Raturi has pledged to invest his time, resources, and efforts to transform these villages into modern, self-sustaining communities. His work aligns with the government’s vision of promoting reverse migration and creating opportunities in rural areas.

The event served as a platform for the Uttarakhand government to appeal to NRUs to contribute to their homeland’s progress. Raturi’s dedication to social welfare and philanthropy, both in India and China, sets a powerful example for others to follow. His recognition at the event highlights the potential of global collaboration in driving local development and marks a significant step toward a brighter future for Uttarakhand.
The success of the International Pravasi Meet underscores the importance of giving back to one’s roots and working collectively to build a prosperous and inclusive Uttarakhand.
