Village boy’s rags-to-riches tale taught in China schools

Dehradun: Dev Raturi, 46, from Kemriya Saurvillage in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, a diehard Bruce Lee fan who wanted to follow the footsteps of his childhood hero, once auditioned for a role in a Hindi movie in Mumbai in front of Puneet Issar (Duryodhan in Mahabharat) in 1998 but failed. Little did he know then that he would not only make a mark in the Chinese film industry one day but become so successful and well known in China that he would find a mention in school text books, his story included in some syllabuses as a rags to riches tale of inspiration.
